So what's new...
As I continue through my 3rd and final year to BA Fine Art Degree with University Campus Barnsley, workload intensifies as I continue to explore the multitude of visual metaphor around "Fragility", the human condition that flaws us all physically and mentally - we are all broken.
The images I create must connect with the viewer in such a way that they are moved thoughtfully and emotionally in recognition of a past experience. This does not have to be a negative emotion, it could be one of love, a fond recollection of a beautiful bouquet of flowers received as a gift or the first time we see our own child or grandchild.
The moment of pride, when your first professionally printed photographic artwork, is selected from over 250 other submissions to be part of the inaugural exhibition in your local city! It was certainly a confidence boosting moment of pleasant shock, as I read the confirmation email;
"Hi Angela, Thank you for your submission to Sense of Place. We are pleased to inform you that we would like to show your piece Urban Borders at White Room Gallery."
The photograph printed by Saal Digital is 20 x 30 cm Alu-Dibond Rag Finished Fine Art Wall Decoration, a beautiful quality, solid backed image of an abstract of barbed wire, is metaphor of the current political and social circumstance, bigotry, racial tension, and exclusions brought about by non acceptance of diversity. Urban Borders, can also relate to "no go areas" of the cities that exposes our fear for personal safety, where cultural divide is territorial, a power struggle to dominate and remove freedom of choice. The image could also be one of personal life journey, as we negotiate circumstances that may leave us emotionally flawed, the sharp barbs serve as reminders of lessons learned.
Sense of Place, is an exhibition curated by Bridget Murray, MA Fine Art student at Sheffield Hallam University, it is the first exhibition for both Bridget and the White Room, open until the end of February 2019. There are many styles and mediums of art on show in response to the theme, the pieces are for sale, giving an added incentive for art enthusiasts and collectors wanting to invest in the artists on show here.

I found the information for this exhibition when I registered for Curator Space as an artist, a great site where collectives, collaborators, solo artists and curators can make things happen and give opportunities to others to get their artistic talent on show to a larger audience.
Urban Borders, will be at University Campus Barnsley for the first week of February 2019 at the inaugural Salon event, where art work will be for sale. Watch this space.....
